🔡 What is the Nepali Preeti Keyboard? Complete Guide for Beginners!

When it comes to typing in the Nepali language on a computer, the Preeti Keyboard Layout is one of the most commonly used layouts in Nepal. From government offices and schools to media houses and students, this layout is widely preferred for typing in Devanagari script.

Let’s break down the Preeti keyboard layout you see in the image and understand how it works in simple terms.

🧩 How Does the Preeti Keyboard Layout Work?

The Preeti keyboard is based on the regular QWERTY layout that we use in English keyboards. However, each key is assigned a corresponding Nepali character from the Devanagari script.

🔠 Basic Characters:

  • A = अ

  • S = क

  • D = म

  • F = ि

  • G = न

  • H = ज

  • J = क

  • K = प

  • L = र

⬆️ Shift + Key for Other Characters:

  • Shift + A = ज्ञ

  • Shift + D = ध

  • Shift + F = ् (halant)

  • Shift + G = ङ

  • Shift + H = झ

  • Shift + J = ञ

  • Shift + K = ठ

  • Shift + L = थ

Using Shift gives you access to extra characters on the same key.

🔣 Special Characters Using ALT Codes

If you need to type rare or special Nepali characters that are not directly visible on the keyboard, you can use ALT key combinations along with the numeric keypad.
